Sport At Annemount

Sport At Annemount

Sport is an essential part of the P.E. teaching curriculum and key to general health and wellbeing.  Most importantly, Sport at Annemount is fun and gives balance to the school day.  Physical development incorporates balance, coordination, spatial awareness and focus. Children are taught team skills and are encouraged to engage in healthy competition.

All pupils are encouraged to exercise regularly with age-appropriate activities and challenges.  During whole school assemblies, children engage in stretching and breathing exercises to bring awareness to healthy functioning.  The youngest pupils have regular music and movement exercises as well as the opportunity to engage in Yoga and Dance taught by specialist teachers.  Reception, Year One and Year Two pupils walk round the block twice a week, and take part in the Mayor’s Golden Kilometre.

Reception pupils have a dedicated Sports teacher and engage in P.E. twice a week as well as dance and practise Yoga as part of their curriculum. Many Reception pupils also join the afterschool Football Club.

Year One and Year Two pupils have regular lessons in Yoga, Dance, Athletics, Swimming, Gymnastics and many also join the afterschool Football Club. All of these subjects are taught by specialist teachers. Gymnastics is taught at Hendon Sports Hall and Swimming takes place at Poolside Manor.

All pupils have the opportunity to set goals and beat their personal best for sponsored charity events, such as the Skipping Challenge for Comic Relief.

Our annual Sports Day is a highlight of the school calendar.

Annemount is proud to host the annual Independent Schools Association Under Sevens’ Football Tournament.
