Last week Annemount came together to support Jeans for Genes Day, and for the day our school felt a lot like a bakery.
Jeans for Genes raises money for children and families living with genetic conditions, and our pupils put their hearts (and their mixing spoons) into the cause. Across the school, children came up with fantastic recipes and cakes, and the results were a joy to see.
The day brought together two special events: the Annemount Baking Competition and our PTA Bake Sale. The competition was judged by our Head Boys, Head Girl and PTA team. They had a tough job, but the winner was Timothy in Year Two for his brilliant football pitch cake. Well done, Timothy, and congratulations to every child who entered. We were so impressed by the creativity and care that went into each bake.
Then came the bake sale, which was the highlight of the week for many of our pupils. Choosing which cakes to take home turned out to be a serious decision, and our Reception children took the job particularly seriously, filling their boxes right to the top. It has inspired quite a few of our children to spend more time baking at home, which is a lovely thing to come out of the day.
Thanks to the generosity of our families, we raised over £200 for Jeans for Genes. A huge thank you to our PTA for organising and hosting the event, and to all our parents for baking, buying and supporting.
