Annemount Mini Earthshot Prize
Inspired by the Earthshot Prize, launched by the Prince and Princess of Wales, Annemount launched a Mini Earth Shot Prize for pupils to ‘consider ways to protect their precious planet’.
Pupils were invited to put forward suggestions and solutions on how the school community can save energy, reduce waste, reduce carbon footprint and encourage bio-diversity in the light of climate change. What could be done differently at home or school? How green is your life? The Annemount School Mini-Earthshot Prize was judged by a panel of former pupils who are all passionate about science and the environment. Consideration was given for;
Five winners were selected who each received their very own bee-friendly tree to plant to encourage insect pollination. All other entries were awarded with a packet of wild flower seeds.
Thank you to all our participants who entered. This was such an effective initiative. All our entries are now on display throughout the school. We really are keen to begin and continue the conversation of environmentalism. We have a panel of judges including former-pupils, who will be judging the suggestions and solutions. We will consider effort, ideas, realistic approaches but also creative ideas, no idea is too silly – anything is possible!
Watch out David Attenborough and Greta Thunberg – Annemount is creating the next generation of environmentalists!
