    French

    The objective of the French lessons is to introduce the children very gently and in a fun way to the concept of a foreign language. 

    French is taught in a relaxed atmosphere complementing the curriculum of the school. 

    Numbers, food and drinks, parts of the body are learned through different games which help memory and understand in a stimulating way. 

    Poetry is introduced as the children move up the school in order to boost their confidence in handling a foreign language. 

    Songs are also used extensively to enhance the enjoyment of learning a new language. 

    The main purpose of the lessons is to spark their interest in French and other modern languages going forward. 

    French is offered as an optional extra for children in Kindergarten and Reception classes and is part of the KS1 curriculum for Year One and Year Two.
